Strawberry Upside Down Cake

This is a very easy cake to make, probably only second to dump cake. You only need three things in order to make this strawberry upside down cake- sugar, strawberries, and cake mix + ingredients needed for cake mix! The most difficult part is probably flipping the cake out of the pan. This cake would be wonderful for any summer get togethers as it takes little effort to put together and the strawberries add a fresh summery taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • Strawberries

  • Yellow cake mix + eggs, oil, and water according to package instructions

Instructions:

Sprinkle the sugar evenly across the bottom of a 9" cake pan. Slice your strawberries and place on top of the sugar in an even design.

In a bowl, combine the yellow cake mix with the other ingredients the box calls for (eggs, oil, etc.). If you want to upgrade your cake, add an extra egg, use butter instead of oil, and use milk instead of water. After the cake batter has been mixed, pour 3/4 of batter evenly over the strawberries. The last 1/4 of batter is extra and can be used to make a smaller cake or cupcakes.


Bake at 325 degrees for 26-30 minutes.


Let cake cool for 10-15 minutes before attempting to flip. Flip the cake gently onto a plate and let it finish cooling. After cake has cooled, it can be cut and served. It's really good with cool whip or whipped cream on top! Enjoy!
