With all Joann's stores closing down, I went to see what kind of sales they had a few weeks ago. I've always wanted to try a Woobles crochet kit, but have never really been able to justify spending so much money on a single kit. That is, until I saw they were marked down in Joann's! I ended up getting the Alice the Strawberry kit. I enjoyed completing the kit so much that I went out and bought another one to make!

Even though this kit is marketed as "for beginners", I think it's a great kit for anyone interested in making amigurumi plushies. That being said, the kit comes with every piece of helpful information (and materials) a beginner could need. Inside each kit is a link to step-by step videos walking the viewer through completing each part of the process in making their crochet character. There is also an option for a written pattern, but I followed the videos to get a feel of how the different stitches would be taught.

Another thing I really liked about this kit was the type of yarn they decided to use. It's almost like a t-shirt yarn, thick and easy to work with. This yarn is so much easier to make plushies with instead of the thin cotton yarn that most kits provide. The kits also come with a nice crochet hook, as well as any other supplies needed. After doing some more digging into different Woobles kits, I found a Snoopy one online I was so tempted to get! Sadly, it was double the price of a regular kit.

The second Woobles kit I got was Henri the Frog. I'm excited to start working on this one, but I still have a few other crochet projects on my list to finish up before I'll have time. There was plenty of extra yarn left over from my strawberry Woobles kit, so if I have extra yarn after working on Henri the Frog, I might have to make little arms and legs for him. Wouldn't that be cute?

Woobles crochet kits are a great way to get into crochet and to begin learning a new skill. The step-by-step videos, as well as the detailed instructions make it nearly fail-proof. I would highly recommend one of these kits if you are wanting to learn crochet, but are unsure of where to begin. Just be prepared that a single kit can cost anywhere between $20 and $50, depending on the type.
